Nelson is from the N Litter of Eagleheart Entlebuchers, from the pair "Hills to Mtns, Rocky Mtn Music" x "Horizen Zendo v Eagleheart".   We specifically asked for a male of breeding quality.  I love breeding - so I wanted that option to be available to us.

His lines trace back to Caesar from Balihara Ranch x Bronte of Wildhorn, Rusty Gates BIrkenstock x Heidi Lynn der Viking, Arco v Arvenstock x Bronte of Wildhorn and AmbeJack v Adhem x Frijolita v Eagleheart.

Enthusiastic Nelson
Handsome Nelson

Nelson is the handsome, dedicated, loyal Entlebucher you read about.
He is never far away, always knows where to find his people and is
totally enthusiastic, despite the activity.  He's not a big snuggler but he
loves scratches and of course playing with his ball.  If you throw the
all for him, you'd better be ready for a lifelong friend!

Nelson has completed a number of Obedience classes along with some Rally and Agility.  We tried some nose work, too.  He loves it all.  If treats and time with me are involved, he's ready!

He did well on a herding aptitude test with sheep and enjoys moving cattle at the ranch.  Nelson isn't a huge barker but he has a whole language of other Entlebucher sounds.  Sometimes it seems that he's doing his best to speak our language.  It sounds a lot like "But MOM, It's right there!" or "I don't know".  We occasionally have conversations before I notice it's not English!

Nelson has a huge heart.  I know that he is always waiting for me when I'm away and is so excited to see me on my return.  He often brings his ball close to his bed so that it's ready to go in the morning.  He can be incredibly patient - especially if the food bowl is in sight.

So far, Nelson has only met a few people and dogs that he actively dislikes - meaning he avoids them.  Otherwise, everyone that arrives is a potential playmate and will get their chance to try playing ball.

Nakita was the smallest female in the N Litter at Jude la Cathare.   We specifically chose this litter because the pair would bring new genes to North America.  With Nelson being a PRA carrier,  I wanted to be sure she would be clear;  That meant testing all the females.  It turns out, she was the only female that was clear for PRA.

Her lines trace back from France to Switzerland including Artus v Overen Dorfberg x Colina v Fuurweiher, Giro v Bogenthal x Queen Nora vd Untergass, Amigo-Lippi ab dem Gut Heid x Cora Barla vd Sonnmatt and Filou de la Vigne aux Vents x Elka du Bois du Tronchet.

From her 1st day with us, Nakita showed her spunk and
independence.  She
is a lovely sweet snuggler in the
evening but by day, this little spark plug
 rules the roost!

Nakita has completed Obedience classes but she sometimes
needs to be convinced that it's worth her time.  She just isn't
as driven to work for a living as our male.  She is a super
snuggler though when evening comes and the TV turns on.

Nakita has a knack for making new friends.  Although Nelson plays with them endlessly, Nakita and her soulful eyes snatch their hearts.  Before you know it, she has snuggled into their laps.

At about a year old, while visiting Entlefest, Nakita had a GI upset.  I wasn't overly concerned at the time, but combined with a change in kibble on our trip, she developed severe itching.  It took a lot of perseverance and trial and error but we now have her comfortable.   Occasionally, when the itching was bad, a session of acupressure was very helpful.

After saliva and blood testing, trying every remedy from the vet, many over the counter salves and washes and then natural remedies, we have decided that she is sensitive to pork and venison.  When she steals pork rib bones from the garbage, the itching returns aggressively.  It's tough to eliminate venison bones from her diet completely while she is roaming at the ranch.

We now have switched to raw food (fewer ingredients and preservatives) and have her feeling comfortable most of the time.  She still gets an itchy snout and ears at times which usually respond to medicated shampoo and ear cleanser.   She is prone to yeast infections which lead to other fungal infections if left untreated.

I don't believe she has a true allergy as none of her pups have developed any concerns and they are past their first year now.  I think the GI upset caused a protein to cross into the blood and develop the sensitivity.  We are fortunate to have found a solution - to keep her comfortable.

Nakita is the soul of our pair.  She is less demonstrative physically but her eyes carry immense emotion.  She has a more balanced relationship with Ian &* I .  She will say hello to almost anyone with a good smelling treat.  But she has a lot of independence.  If she decides she's not playing - there's no point in asking twice.  She is very clear with her opinions.
